1 to 4 Session Personalized Training
Want to teach your dog something more specific or address a tough behavioral problem? We make it easy. Here are a few ways our clients have used our services to resolve some very specific challenges:
Isabel really hated seeing her people go – so much so that she would nip their ankles as they walked out the front door! It was very stressful for her, and very painful for her human family. But in one session we were able to teach Isabel to make positive associations with people leaving and teach her a new behavior to replace the nervous one she had developed over time. A seemingly complicated problem with a surprisingly easy solution!
Shane is a rescued Great Dane with a gentle disposition. But the slightest brush with a strange dog would trigger a fearful attack from him that hinted at serious unrest within. At 130lbs, Shane would easily pull a person off their feet and down the street. In 4 sessions we were able to identify the root cause of Shane’s issue, give him the practice he needed to walk by other dogs confidently, teach him some of the social skills he missed out on as a puppy, and give his family the confidence and control they needed to lead Shane on his daily walks.

More Common Questions About Training
What is your training approach/technique?
We believe in a relationship based training approach that incorporates communication, positive reinforcement, exercise, mutual respect, clear boundaries, and a focus on the root causes of behaviors. While we are educated in various approaches, we have found this approach to be humane, fast, effective, and safe. Are we militant trainers who will guilt you for letting your dog sleep on the bed or get on the couch? No. Are we rough, yank the leash types? Heck no! You will find us to be kind, educated, very dedicated, and good at what we do.
What’s the difference between puppy classes and in-home training?
Puppy classes (or group training classes) occur once a week on a fixed schedule and stick to a set curriculum. Typically 1-2 basic commands (or cues) are taught per session then built upon over the next few weeks. If you miss a class, it must be made up if the school will allow it. While obedience classes can be more cost effective to start training and a good fit for some dogs, it is a very structured environment where the instructor’s attention is often spread thin. Classes are 6-8 weeks at the same time every week and at least 3 rounds of classes are needed to reach intermediate to advanced level training.
In-home training avoids the more generalized curriculum approach knowing that one size does not fit all. It is also a more cost effective option for people who need to work with more than one dog or on the pack/human dynamics in their home. While we may teach a lot of obedience cues, our focus relies on teaching the cues you will find most useful with your dog and making use of that obedience in real world settings. Unlike typical obedience classes we may also teach cues like “in” “out” “load up” “with me” and various others tailored to social settings, the home, the car, or to make an exercise routine or game easier.
Visiting you in your home also allows us to resolve any unwanted behavioral problems, and identify potential future issues much more effectively. This hands-on approach works faster, is easier for the client, and allows us room to teach more.
